Panayiotis Nastou holds a degree in Computer Engineering & Informatics, from the University of Patras and a Ph.D. on «Architecture of an Associative Processor with Parallel Processing Element and Interconnection Network».

He worked as a Research Engineer for the Computer Technology Institute of Patras University (CTI) and for the High-Performance Computer Laboratory of Athens (Athens HPCL) where he participated in several ESPRIT research projects (1992-1996).

In 1999-2004, he worked for ATMEL SA as a Principal Systems Engineer where he managed several research and development projects related to wireless secure communications and system design CAD tools in ATMEL S.A. In 2004-2007, he was an Auditor of Information and Communication Systems in Hellenic Data Protection Authority (HDPA), where he committed audits on many organizations in the public and private sectors. He also participated in the evaluation and management of the project “Procurement and Installation of Call Center and Networking Equipment of HDPA” and in the management of the project «Information System and Electronic Services of the HDPA» funded by EU and Greek Government.

During Olympic Games of Athens in 2004, he was HDPA representator for the Hellenic Olympic Security team, in 2006 he was member of the Schengen Evaluation team during the inspection of the EU member Cyprus and in 2007 he was a member of the Inspection Team of the EC Joint Supervisory Board (JSB) of  Data Protection in the inspection of OLAF as for its security.

Since 2007, he is a member of the faculty (assistant professor) of the Department of Mathematics at the University of Aegean, Greece. His research interests include Cryptography, Cryptanalysis, Steganography, Information Security, Cybersecurity, Secure Embedded Systems Design, Wireless Communications, Parallel/Distributed and Mobile Computing, Design, and analysis of algorithms and Combinatorial Optimization. Finally, he has acted as a Program Committee member in several conferences related to Wireless Communications, Parallel Computing, Information Security and Intelligence and he is a member of the editorial board of the International Journal of Applied and Experimental Mathematics.
